Dr. Ram Babu, Chief Executive Officer

Ram has over 35 years of professional experience with institutions including National Environmental Engineering Research Institute, PricewaterhouseCoopers and CantorCO2e. Ram’s consulting experience covers a whole range of sustainable development and corporate governance practices. Ram has helped Governments and Multilateral Agencies in areas including developing regional sustainable development plans, defining policy instruments based on life cycle assessments & substance flow analysis and investigating affectivity of market based instruments for addressing regional environmental problems. Ram’s worked in the private sector includes environment impact assessments, environment & energy audits, quality & environment management systems and corporate governance benchmarking. From 1999, Ram focused on developing Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) projects. Ram has participated in setting up many of the systems and processes of the Clean Development Mechanism, which includes development of methodologies, registration of over 50 projects and issuance of over 25 million CERs. Ram has led some of the early transactions in the compliance and voluntary markets and has been instrumental in developing a variety of carbon finance structures. 
Ram often chairs panel discussions and is a speaker at events organised by IETA, Point Carbon, and Environmental Finance etc. Ram holds Doctorate in Physics from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bombay


R P Sharma (RP), Director

RP has over 35 years of experience in the field of energy and environmental management. He has led teams at numerous organizations including Hindustan Zinc, Triveni Engineering Works, Hindustan Dorr-Oliver and Tata Steel. Prior to joining General Carbon, RP has served as Chief of Environmental Management, Tata Steel and Executive Director, Zenith Energy Services, managing the energy efficiency and carbon trading advisory team.  He also has advised Governments and Industry Associations on corporate citizenship and climate stewardship. In his last assignment Mr. Sharma was Chief Operating Officer of CantorCO2e India.
RP holds a Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Rourkee


Satish Kashyap, Co Founder and Director

Satish has  over a decade of experience in Capital Markets, M&A and Strategy. Satish has worked with the National Stock Exchange of India Group, where he led product development for equity, commodity and derivative markets. Satish was Director for SunGard, India where he was responsible for corporate business development. In his last assignment, Satish was an investment manager for a $ 400 million fund investing in Infrastructure and Real Estate in India


Satish is a Post-graduate in Management from the Indian School of Business (ISB), Hyderabad and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from the University of Mumbai.

 

Anupam Das-Purkayastha, Director

Anupam has over eighteen years of industrial experience covering design, development and service delivery. He has managed multiple profit centers engaged in delivering consultancy and product development services to Indian, European and U.S. clients. His experience includes managing software development operations and CDM project development operations. He has been involved with CDM during the past four years. Prior to joining General Carbon, as Vice President of the Indian operation of a major multinational in climate change consulting and transaction advisory, he was leading the transactions services. He has successfully managed large carbon credit transaction deals originating from India and has guided large CDM engagements.Anupam is a post-graduate in Physics.

 

Shantanu P. Eksambekar, Associate Director

Shantanu has over twenty years of experience as an environmental specialist and project manager in infrastructure, iron & steel and renewable energy. As a Corporate Head for Environment, Health & Safety, he has handled multi disciplinary environmental issues and successfully led the commissioning of projects including the 500MW Dahanu thermal power station. Shantanu has wide exposure in site selection and feasibility studies for thermal power plants, SEZs and ports. He has also been associated with the Central Water and Power Research Station, Pune for developing ocean hydrodynamic models and has assisted in projects to develop environmental plans that adhere to standards of World Bank, International Finance Corporation (IFC) and ADB as well as conduct due diligence assessments. Shantanu has worked with leading infrastructure players including Reliance Infrastructure, Enercon, HDIL, Ispat and GVK.

Shantanu holds Masters in environmental science from the School of Environmental Science, Pune.

 

Betsy Vincent, Vice President

Betsy has > 12 years of experience with the corporate and nonprofit sectors; she began her career in marketing with Bennett Coleman & Co., Mumbai. In her next role as Project Manager with the International Resources for Fairer Trade (nonprofit institution) she was responsible for marketing of the fair trade concept, fund raising, training, and business development services. She has also developed GHG emission reduction projects in the agriculture sector and was involved in developing and mentoring entrepreneurs to undertake bundling of small/medium GHG emission reduction initiatives in Asia and Africa. Her role frequently involved liaisoning with multi lateral institutions and voluntary sector players.
Betsy holds a Master’s degree in Management Studies, specializing in Marketing, and a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce from the University of Mumbai.


Vinodini Chitrakaran, Vice President

Vinodini has 7 years of multi-functional experience at territory leadership positions for consumer brands like Nokia and Coke. She has worked across a wide geography from rural to metropolitan towns, spanning different consumer demographics, lifestyles, affordability and attitudes. She has hands on experience in marketing and campaign design, managing key stake-holder relationships and leading third party agencies. She brings insights on business development and implementation of go-to-market strategies. At Coke, she was involved in the design and rollout of a local CSR initiative. Vinodini holds a Post Graduate degree in Management and a Bachelor's degree in Zoology.

 

Pravin Jadhav, Associate Vice President

Pravin Jadhav has a cumulative experience of > 7 years in research and  industry, he has a dedicated CDM advisory experience of over 2 years.

Pravin pursued research at the National Chemical Laboratory (NCL), Pune and National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI), Nagpur. His area of research was in the field of energy and environment, he has published eight research papers in international journals and conferences.

Pravin has contributed to the India’s initial National Communication to the UNFCCC, research on alternative refrigerants under the Montreal Protocol and the technology development for CO2 capture from the post combustion flue gases and its sequestration. His industrial experience included R&D plant trials for process improvement and production cost reduction and effluent treatment plant design.

He has been involved in CDM project cycles with specific experience in large scale NG power, hydro power plants, MSW to compost and energy, biomass to energy, distillery spent wash to energy, wind energy and energy efficiency projects.

Pravin is a post graduate in chemical engineering.

 

Arun Prakash, Manager

Arun carries with him over 2 years of Industrial experience in the Field of Energy and Environmental technologies and has a sound knowledge of their applications in the space of Carbon assets origination and Management. He was also associated with Salem Steel Plant ( SAIL), doing a research on "Optimization of fuel consumption for various grades of Steel in Cold rolling process".

In his tenure as a CDM origination Consultant at CantorCO2e-India, he has been actively involved in greenhouse gas (GHG) abatement project development and accounting, encompassing fields of renewable energy, municipal solid waste management, bio-methanation, cogeneration, waste heat recovery, and energy efficiency in electrical and thermal utilities

Arun holds a Bachelor of Technology (Energy and Environmental Engineering) from Agricultural Engineering College and Research Institute, TNAU, Coimbatore.

 

Priya Ranganayaki. V, Manager

Priya Ranganayaki has five years of experience in research and consultancy in the fields of Environment Management Systems, Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainability. In her earlier tenure with Care Sustainability she handled projects spanning waste management, biomass to energy, and NG based power plants. 
Priya Ranganayaki is a Post Graduate in Environment Management.

 


Rameez Shaikh, Manager

Rameez Shaikh has professional experience in steering production functions, business development and customer relationship management. Prior to joining General Carbon, he had proficiently managed the production activities at Shyamal Chemical Industries where he was responsible for the quality assurance & control (QA/QC) and fostering healthy business relationships. He has efficiently executed internship projects at Godrej & Boyce Mfg Co Ltd and Sify Technologies Ltd at their facilities in Mumbai. He has effectively handled ERPA contractual negotiations & emission reduction deal facilitation for various emission reduction projects.

Rameez holds a Master’s degree in Management Studies from Mumbai University and a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Pune University.

 

Dr. S. Swarnalatha, Assistant Manager

Swarna has over eight years of research experience in the field of solid waste management at National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI) and Central Leather Research Institute (CLRI). Her areas of specialization are heterogeneous catalyst from waste and incineration of tannery waste. To her credit she has published 17 papers in SCI journals and 2 papers in national journals. She has also filed a patent which has got application in polymer synthesis using catalyst from waste. She acts as a potential reviewer for journals such as Environmental Technology, Environmental Progress and Sustainable Energy, Journal of Applied Polymer Science and International Research Journal of Plant Science.

Swarna holds Doctorate in Environmental Chemistry from CLRI.

 

Shruti Kudtarkar, Assistant Manager

Shruti Kudtarkar has close two 2 years of experience as a  CDM analyst. She has handled projects from different sectors like renewable energy generation projects (wind energy generation & bagasse based cogeneration), Waste handling and disposal (Methane recovery projects) at different stages of the project life cycle.

Shruti is a post graduate in Environment Management from SIES-Indian Institute of Environment Management, Mumbai, and Bachelors of Science, Mumbai University.

Karthikeyan K, Assistant Manager

Karthikeyan has been actively involved in energy and environment consulting for over a year with experience in research and analysis, analyzing and benchmarking the energy efficiency of Aluminum plants in India.

Karthikeyan has also assessed the energy consumption pattern and emission profile of energy intensive sectors like Sponge Iron, Power, Iron & Steel sector. At present he is involved in developing the PDD for CDM project activities and analysis on the various sectoral methodologies, approved and new methodology.

Karthikeyan is a B.Tech in Energy and Environmental Engineering from AEC & RI, TNAU, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu.


Sanaiya Dotivala, Assistant Manager
Sanaiya has over six years of experience in the environmental and social development projects. Prior to joining General Carbon, she worked with the waste regulation team of a government agency in the United Kingdom. Over a period of two years she looked at regulatory adherence for different types of waste including electronic, packaging, chemical and batteries. She has participated in multiple voluntary social assignments in India and overseas for over four years.

Sanaiya holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from Sophia College, Mumbai and a Masterof Science in Environmental Management (Business) from Sheffield Hallam University, UK.
