Renewable Energy

General Carbon offers an entire gamut of services to clients choosing renewable energy options.

Renewable Energy Certificates
General Carbon provides end to end solutions to help you leverage the REC Mechanism. The REC mechanism seeks to address the mismatch between availability of renewable energy sources and the requirements of obligated entities to meet their Renewable Purchase Obligation (RPO). Distribution companies, open access consumers and captive consumers have the option of purchasing renewable power or RECs to meet their obligations.

Brief overview of the REC process:

 - Renewable energy generators have to apply for accreditation with the state agency (MEDA,
   GEDA, etc.)

 - Application for accreditation can be made up to 6 months before the commissioning of project
   or anytime post commissioning.

 - After accreditation project should be registered with the Central Agency (NLDC).

 - A registered project can apply for issuance of REC after injecting power to grid.

 - Issued RECs can be traded through the power exchanges on the last Wednesday of every month.
