General Carbon successfully concludes local stakeholders’ meeting for power projects in Africa

General Carbon has contracted six projects in Nigeria from leading industrial groups. Four of these projects have already been notified to UNFCCC and Nigerian DNA at Abuja viz. Tower Power Utility Ltd(TPUL); Coronation Power & Gas Ltd; Green Fuels Ltd;  Tower Power Abeokuta Ltd;

The Natural Gas based power project of TPUL is also Nigeria’s first commissioned independent power producer. Two local stakeholders’ meeting was conducted for projects involving fossil fuel switch from FO to natural gas based energy generation on 09 and 16^th Feb. 2010 resp.. The meetings were attended by local community members, Chiefs and nearby industries’ representatives. Second meeting was also represented by representative from Nigerian DNA.

Chiefs, local community members and Nigerian DNA representative appreciated the responses to queries and stressed the need for more of such projects and also the awareness such meetings create about the global warming and climate change issues.
